Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 & 10.1 will use PLS screen technology

According to AnandTech, new Samsung tablets will have PLS screens. PLS technology is expected to be better than IPS and 15% cheaper. Viewing angle is excellent, as you may see in the video below:

I’m definitely will be getting Galaxy Tab 8.9 also due to following features:

  • 1280×800 on 8.9 inches – 170ppi pixel density (iPad tops only 132ppi)
  • Only 470 g, 16×23 cm – highly portable
  • 8.6 mm thin
  • $469 for WiFi version

Samsung Galaxy S II rumors: metal case, 300 ppi screen and a good camera

SamFirmware has just posted a first firmware for Samsung I9200 (Galaxy S II) and the guys over at XDA are already looking into it.

Eldar Murtazin has also mentioned I9200 in his Twitter feed and podcast, speaking about dual core processor, ~10 mm metal case, 4″ 300 ppi screen and 8 MP camera with good lenses (about 1 cm thick, which is quite big for a smartphones). The planned release date is February or March 2011.

Samsung has showcased the Galaxy Tab with AMOLED display and all kinds of foldable, flexible and transparent displays.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

A 7-inch tablet with a TFT display, Android 2.2, 1.0 GHz Cortex A8 processor, 16GB of on-board memory, 4000mAH battery, 3G, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi (up to N), a front-facing camera, GPS  and an SD card slot.

It’s smaller and lighter than the iPad (370 gram) with almost the same resolution (1024×600). Unfortunately it doesn’t have the rumored Super AMOLED display nor USB ports. DivX support is a big plus though.

How many megapixels in 5 megapixels?

Many phones nowadays have cameras with 5 megapixels and above. Let’s take a closer look:

Looks like the Nexus One is using sharpening while Galaxy is not. The image from the Milestone is sharp but very noisy.
